Florence B. Price: Her Life and Her Music

Florence B. Price is an American hero. Her visionary ideal of composition unites three continents in her writing, which teaches us the beauty of unity and integration. With spellbinding titles, her use of the Juba rhythms from West Africa, the African American Spiritual harmonic language, and the West European textures and structures spun together, Price writes a plethora of stories that beautifully describe life as an American woman using the vehicle of the universal language of music. Her music survived decades of neglect due to the repercussions of Old America, but despite the challenges Ms. Price and her scores experienced, today, she is celebrated around the world.
