For those professionally engaged in music. Only Active members may vote, hold office and enter students in the MTNA Competitions. State membership required.

For students currently enrolled in a college or university music program. State membership required.
- Corporate
For companies that wish to support MTNA, receive exposure and valuable savings on MTNA advertising. Corporate membership does not grant membership to individuals who work for or belong to a Corporate Member.
- Institutional
For educational institutions that wish to support MTNA, receive exposure and valuable savings on MTNA advertising. Institutional membership does not grant membership to individuals who work for or belong to an Institutional Member.
- International
For those professionally engaged in music but living outside the U.S.
- Patron
For those who wish to support MTNA but are not professionally engaged in music.
- Senior
Active Members age 70 and older receive a 25% discount on national dues. Some states and locals also offer a senior discount.
